Lives that Inspire: Dr. Lauren Tierney
We are so proud of Dr. Tierney, one of the owners and veterinarians of West Ashley Veterinary Clinic. She was recently featured by Ashley Hall School in a video as an example of how a little girl can grow up to be whatever they dream. Dr. Tierney has always known she wanted to work with animals and has been with West Ashley Veterinary Clinic since she was a teenager, working after school to help clean. Now she is one of the owners of the clinic and a practicing veterinarian. Take a look at her journey from school girl to veterinarian and small business owner:
Caring for Pets at Our Animal Hospital in Charleston Since 1987
Our animal hospital was founded in 1987 by Dr. Merrill Irvin and the late Dr. Thomas Hutto. We are advocates not only for our patients but also for the people who love them. From preventive care to dentistry to surgery, we offer more than a dozen services under one roof. Among traditional veterinary services like wellness care, medicine, surgery and dentistry for dogs and cats, we are proud to offer non-invasive diagnostics like ultrasound as well as multimodal pain control with drug-free choices like laser therapy and acupuncture.
During our long-standing presence in the community, we have adopted a local animal sanctuary, participated in community and school service events, and sponsored sports teams and equine events. We are happy to accept vouchers from local rescue organizations like Charleston Animal Society and Pet Helpers. Every year we host qualified externs from veterinary colleges around the country.
